BARRETT STEEL – SHOREHAM
This is the groups most recent addition to their ever expanding company portfolio, the system design on this project was met with many challenges.
One of the main factor’s was the environmental issue of the building being located next to the sea and docks.
Being in such close proximity to the sea meant that the building and any equipment attached to it would be exposed to the harsh winds and salty sea air which gave a much greater risk of the equipment corroding and therefore leading to a decline in functionality over a short period of time.
Very few CCTV installations are done in such environments and the sensitive equipment is rarely tested or used in such environments.
HOW WE HELPED
For this project we were approached to design both a site wide CCTV system and a CCTV viewing system across six independent drilling machines.
The site wide CCTV system was designed to protect the building and the perimeter of the site as well as the port and yard area using Avigilon H5 bullet style cameras and the H4 multisensor camera with built in analytics .
These types of cameras were selected for their ability to cover wide distances and large internal & external areas of site using fewer cameras, while simultaneously allowing operators to zoom in with detail to identify and quickly respond to potential security events. Combined with the advanced search capabilities of ACC video management software, the system helps the sites operators to effectively monitor and accurately verify the location of people and vehicles of interest, saving time and effort during critical investigations.
This was a cost effective solution installing the H4 multi sensor camera, this prevented unwanted down time in production due to the capabilities of installing a single CAT5 cable to a camera with 4 built in camera units to a large area of site instead of installing multiple cables and cameras and disrupting production for long periods of time our design solution ensured minimum disruption to production.
The Drilling Machine CCTV solution is purely focused on the health and safety of the machines and its operators.
These cameras are in place to ensure the machines are fully operating as this is mission critical to the company and also prevent any unwanted down time in the event of the machines breaking down.
OUTCOME
This system can viewed back at Barrett Steel HQ on the Avigilon centralised viewing platform to view any incidents and also assess any issues that may have occurred which then allows the management team to put an action plans together.
Clear Image Systems have successfully installed the Avigilon solution across all 28 sites in the UK as well as Northern Ireland, these sites are also networked and can all be viewed back at head office on the Avigilon Control Centre ( ACC ) video management software.
